Ed Kashi gearresteerd in Nigeria

Ed Kashi, an American photojournalist detained for four days has said the Nigerian Navy was wrong to arrest him.

In an interview just with African News Dimension just an hour after his release, Keshi said the Navy had overreacted even though he had every documentation and equipment to show that he was a working journalist.

Keshi was arrested on Friday while taking photographs of an oil facility in the Bayelsa state. His wife, Julie Winokur said her husband had only been released after interventions at the top level.

The photojournalist, Ed Kashi, of the National Geographic was photographing a gas flare at the Obama flow station in Bayelsa State when he was arrested on Friday along with his Nigerian fixer.

"They said he did not obtain permission to take pictures of the facility and that the area is volatile and he could have been kidnapped," the group's spokesman said.
